2004 Chandon de Briailles Pernand Vergelesses Ile des Vergelesses
This drinks well from the corkpull and has me feeling bullish about 2004. Pure crisp juicy Burgundy, lovely, mineral, transparent, but yet earthy and structured and full of life, as well as fruit (for this taster). This was FUN.
2004 Chandon de Briailles Savigny les Beaune Aux Fourneaux
This has me feeling less bullish about 2004, and I'm sure there's a terroir/weather pattern explanation for why this is tarter and more sour than the IdV. It has a nice bass undertone of earth, and shows some vineyard-specific elegance, but then the body is clipped just before it turns the corner into a full(ish) mouth of fruit. Whether that will fill in with time is beyond my prognostication abilities.
2000 Chandon de Briailles Pernand Vergelesses Ile des Vergelesses
A lovely fine grained fragrance, less material than the 04, and a shorter finish, but still a nice slightly earthy fine thread of pinot noir. Take it for what it is.
