2008 Mission Hill Quatrain Okanagan Valley VQA Red Blend
Brought by a guest; purchased at the winery long ago and passively cellared. Much more suited to a steak dinner than the light-bodied braised chicken dish I was serving, but it's a fairly classic full-bodied new world Bordeaux blend from a large BC winery who make both gems and inexpensive industrial plonk. This is one of the gems: cassis, plum, tobacco, and even a little graphite. Lots of new oak adds weight, a bit more than I care for but we did enjoy the wine.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Thanks for the note, it is interesting to see how this was doing after 14-15 years. I imagine they use less oak now, but at just under $100 CDN at this time, I'm not a buyer.

It's interesting to compare this to the Craggy Range Sophia you brought on Thursday--I don't generally have two outsized new world 2008 Bdx blends almost back to back. Although this one no doubt suffered a bit from passive storage, the lines weren't blurred in that internationalized way that the Craggy Range was and side by side this would have been the winner.
