2020 Château Picque Caillou Blanc Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc
Heavy notes of honeysuckle, preserved grapefruit rind and wet wool socks dominate the entry but become less intense as one finishes the bottle; lower acidity contributes to blandness on the last sip. Both combine to create the impression of 100% semillon, but strangely this is 100% Sauv Blanc. Boring, a waste of $38.

Too bad. I thought the Picque Caillou red was a fine bargain in 2004 and 2005 (it was like $12-15) and my one taste in that period of the white (I think the '04) was quite good, then I had either the '09 or'10 blanc, and thought it overripe/flabby, but thought maybe it was just the vintage. But maybe they just moved to that style.

I'm with you on the '04 red, never had the '05. Also remember liking past bottles of the blanc, and this one was okay at first but just kind of faded in every department on the second pour. Really odd to me how little it resembled SB too--I honestly was certain it was 100% semillon until I read it on the label after the bottle was finished.
