Thought I'd check up on this wine with dinner last night as I hasn't had it for some years and given the wine theme this month (it is 100% Tempranillo)
Still darker than I'd have thought, showing lighter only at the rim, and with a very nice nose of cedar, cherry and forest floor (a tad mushroomy) and a very slight bitter note (not unpleasant at all) near the end of a medium length finish.
These wines (I have a couple of other vintages) have always performed above their price and have also had a much slower development curve that I would have expected, which is a good thing as far as being able to enjoy them after a couple of decades. No sign of old age here, so likely has some years to go yet. Real bargain at the prices I paid on release!
