WTN: 3 Chardonnays, 1 Syrah, 1 Riesling

2020 Goodfellow Chardonnay (Willamette )
Touch of matchstick blows off, quite vibrant, lighter bodied but with persistent finish, citrus and stones. Good value. B+/B

Chungking pork, water spinach with oyster sauce
2009 Donnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Kabinett
Leistenberg is supposed to be the drink young Donnhoff, but I’ve had consistent luck aging, and this is drinking quite well. Apple and Rainier cherry, not as apparently sweet as on release, long finish, a joy. A-/B+

Korean marinated chicken, yakisoba with bok choy and trumpet mushrooms
2012 Nicolas Perrin St. Joseph
Somewhat thin and disappointing, usually 10 years old would be young for St Jo, but this seemed to be fading. Soft red fruit, not much place here, short. C+

2013 Fevre Les Clos Chablis GC (375)
Diam (I knew 750s were, relieved to see halves as well). Chalky, white fruit and orange peel, long seashell finish. Ready in this format B+/A-
]
Oysters, roast halibut, trumpet mushrooms, parsnips, carrots, tomato, salad.
2012 Mt Eden Chardonnay Reserve
Young, fresh, vibrant, this is powerful but not at all heavy. Pear, apple blossoms, just a touch of vanilla, long minerally finish. A-

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Also two bottles of 2009 Dönnhoff Kreuznacher Krötenpfuhl Riesling Kabinett, and one is open right now. It has an edge of maturity but still lots of bright fruit, and the acidity is right there. Delicious now and can hold for some time.
