A relatively new winery in WA state from which I had two reds and wasn't impressed, so I was surprised to like this wine a lot when the owner of a local wine bar poured it for me. I bought a few bottles to be nice, and was surprised to discover, at home and more objective, how good this really is. I paid $30 but I'm guessing regular retail is closer to $20. Either way, great value.
2019 Elephant Seven Side E Walla Walla Valley White Rhone Blend
A white Rhone blend made of relatively even amounts of Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Clairette, and Picpoul. I've known Picpoul to be grown here but Clairette is new news. Bright and minerally, it's medium bodied with jasmine and sweet herb nose followed by pears, ginger and white pepper on the dry finish. A pretty sophisticated wine; great QPR.
