WTN: Four Bedrock Whites...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Dec 15, 2022 3:37 pm

We tried these four ystrday at Pig+Fig tasting:
1. Bedrock SauvBlanc JudgeFamilyVnyd/BennettVlly/SonomaCnty (14.2%; Brl Frmtd: old oak & new cigares; www.BedrockWineCo.com) Sonoma 2021: Light gold color; strong bit herbal/SB/slight melony rather simple light pencilly/oak fairly pleasant nose; quite tart/tangy/bit metallic fairly herbal/SB/bit weedy/slight melony bit lean rather simple SB flavor; med.long light herbal/weedy/SB light pencilly/oak rather lean/tight finish; a somewhat lean/tangy rather herbal bit simple SB that could use some age perhaps; reminds some of the Monterey SBs of yore before DougMeador discovered SauvMusque. $35.00

2. Bedrock SauvBlanc SonomaVlly/SonomaCnty (14.1%) Sonoma 2017: Light gold color; attractive ripe/melony/SB/floral very slight herbal light pencilly/oak slightly spicy some complex lovely nose; lightly tart fairly rich/lush/ripe melony/floral/SB very slight herbal some pecilly/oak slight saline some complex beautiful flavor; very long/lingering rather rich/lush strong floral/SB/melony/ripe light pencilly/oak slight stony/mineral bit herbal finish; a beautiful expression of Calif SB; seems like SauvMusque from the floral character; reminds of Friuli or SudStiermark SB than anything.

3. Bedrock GWT AltaVistaVnyd/MoonMtnDist/SonomaCnty (14.0%; 2.5 acres; Plntd: 1940's) 2021: Light gold color; rather spicy/GWT/slight nutmeg light chalky/mineral bit Trimbach-like fairly complex fragrant nose w/o the floozy/cheap hair oil character; pretty dry quite spicy/GWT/floral/bit carnations light chalky/mineral bit lean slight complex flavor; very long rather dry quite spicy/GWT/nutmeg slight chalky/mineral bit complex finish; not at all a floozy/cheap hair oil expression of GWT but more on the subtle side like an AltoAdige/Sudtirol expression of Traminer; a pretty/interesting expression of GWT. $34.00
_______________
4. Bedrock Chard BienNacidoVnyd/SantaMariaVlly (13.2%; own-rooted/OV) 2021: Light gold color; rather subtle/elegant melony/Chard/bit spicy/almondy fairly strong pencilly/toasty/oak bit complex nose; rather tart/tangy subtle/elegant/spicy strong melony/Chard/almondy/spicy/bit nutmeg quite attractive/restrained flavor; fairly tart/tangy subtle/elegant bit lean some pencilly/oak almondy/bit melony/Chard finish; reminds some of the ABC BN Chards w/o the strong oak; an attractive subtle/elegant/quiet expression of Chard that should improve a lot w/ 2-5 yrs of age; a bit underwhelming for a BienNacido Chard right now. $45.00

More geewurzbindle from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The 2021 whites were a bit on the subtle/quiet side & I sense that they will be much more expressive with a few yrs of age. I liked them but expected a bit more from them.

Interesting. I didn't realize that Bedrock had such a range of white wines.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
