I opened a 1999 Markko Chardonnay Ohio wine yesterday for a friend and we were both amazed at how fresh and balanced it was. There was a hint of butterscotch but there was plenty of pear fruit and enough acidity to balance with NO oxidation. It may have been better a few years ago but was very enjoyable that nite. My visit with Arnie a few years ago was a true eye-opener. That little gnome sure knows how to make chardonnay but the rieslings and cabernets are still a work in progress. The tasting room is in the middle of a woods and NOT easy to find but worth the effort. A very memorable experience.

Fun note. Isn't it great when wines surprise, and I mean REALLY surprise?
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
