2011 Dönnhoff Hermannshöhle Riesling Großes Gewächs - Germany, Nahe (12/6/2022)
No decant, just pour a glass and enjoy. Loaded with minerals, peach and lemon fruit buffer the intensity, and meld to complement a vibrant, saline finish. There’s a drive to the wine - it keeps pushing flavor long after a sip is gone. That said it has a touch of heat, likely an artifact of a ripe, relatively low acid vintage. There is more than enough stuffing to let it age for a while though, as the alcohol goes into hiding after about 60 minutes open.

A reference to the Berserker thread? I'm guessing you didn't even consider decanting. Can't say that I decant rieslings either these days.

Regardless, sounds like a delicious wine. Maybe not perfect, but what is perfect. Still plenty of enjoyment to be had!

No intended reference. I just get asked so often about decanting/air that I now often note it.

And correct - not perfect, but perfect enough for tonight.
