2013 Weingut Josef Leitz Rüdesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Hinterhaus - Germany, Rheingau (11/30/2022)
Hard to believe that I have not opened a bottle of this for seven years, but there it is. I will be opening more soon, as I think it is at peak, and maybe just teetering over the edge to start a gentle decline. The tart passion fruit is still evident, but it’s getting a touch honeyed, and the alcohol sticks out a bit until the wine gets some air. As is so often the case my favorite element is the mouthfeel, which has both richness and precision, the broad shoulders of the Rheingau chiseled to a noble form. Enjoy now and soon.
