WTN: The 'Pube'

by Jenise » Sat Oct 29, 2022 6:35 pm

Okay, so we had this at the Dork's bojo event last weekend, after which I discovered that I had a chilled bottle in the fridge so we opened it last night. Re my choice of topic titles, last weekend there were no French speakers available and we tripped over trying to pronunce the producers name. We finally gave up when someone suggest we just call it 'Pube'. Last night, Bob and I couldn't help but resort to that again. Indelicate as it may seem.

2021 Domaine Dupeuble Pere et Fils Beaujolais Blanc Chardonnay
After tasting this at a Dork night last weekend, I discovered a bottle in our cellar so we popped it last night. This was less shy than last weekend's bottle, and didn't show any apple at all. It was pear all the way, and it turned a little sweet on the finish. Blind, 'chardonnay' would not have been my first or even second guess. Closer to a rich pinot grigio.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

I have always referred to it as Do-Pueblo.

I can see that. I don't drink too much Beaujolais blanc, but my memory is of wines that were milder, more neutral and less flavorful than white Burgundy, so pinot grigio makes sense!

For the pronunciation, I guess it (obviously) helps to know French phonetics, but otherwise nothing too tricky or idiosyncratic, and no accents. Do-puh-bluh.
