Had these two last night:
1. Bucklin OldHillRanch Mixed Whites SonomaVlly (13.2%; Field blend of 14 varieties; 49 cs; www.BuckZin.com) Sonoma 2021: Med.light yellow color; somewhat earthy/dusty slight floral/dandelions/marigolds slight old oak/tanky rather old-timey interesting nose; slightly tart some earthy/dusty rather old-timey/old oak tanks lightly floral/dandelions quite interesting flavor; long some earthy/dusty some old-timey/oak tanky/bit rustic slight floral/dandelions some earthy/dusty rather interesting finish; not a whole lot of fruit but some old-timey/rustic character like it was frmtd in redwood vats & aged in large old-oak ovals; quite an interesting white. $30.00

2. Peay Syrah Estate LesTitans SonomaCoast (14.0%; www.PeayVineyards.com) Cloverdale 2007: Dark color w/ some browning; strong c-c/black pepper fairly blackberry/spicy/Syrah/ripe/boysenberry strong toasty/smokey/oak bit cedary/pencilly/oldRed fairly complex nose; rather tart/tangy/bit acidic strong c-c/black pepper strong blackberry/Syrah/very spicy some w-c/Rhonish/smoked meats bit tired/drying out rather complex lavor w/ light smooth tannins; very long strong c-c/peppery some blackberry/spicy/Syrah bit toasty/smokey/oak Rhonish/w-c/espresso complex bit drying/cedary/pencilly/oldRed finish w/ light tannins; probably 4-5 yrs beyond its peak; showing its age but still offers up a lot of c-c/peppery pleasure. By the next morning, it was showing a lot of age & turned a murky brown color.

More fizzercrip from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Bucklin White was quite an intriguing wine. It reminded me quite a lot of the old GusSebastiani GreenHungarian but w/ more richness & texture & interest.
Some yrs ago, WillBucklin scoured SonomaCnty for old Calif whites and harvested 14 varieties that he planted in a field-blend block on the OldHillRanch. Don't think the planting is particularly old. And, of course, they have some of these whites in their OldHill Zin block.

I have tried the Bucklin white wine a few times, and it just doesn’t resonate for me. Very few California white blends do, so it’s certainly me, not the wines.
