WTN: Chateau Indage Marquise de Pompadour Brut Methode Champenoise

A Champagne method sparkling wine from India. Green/gold cast. Impressive, fine bead. Lightish and only very slightly oxidative. Citrus peel character primarily. A little hollow in the mid-palate. A long finish, which, unfortunately, is rather unpleasant; mostly bitter and metallic. It would have been a pleasant sparkling except for the weird finish. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Ugni Blanc.

Any idea where in India they grow the grapes? Hopefully in the northern latitudes . . .

Jay,
Is the mailing list still open?
I've only tasted one wine from India. a Merlot IIRC, and it was hopelessly corked.

Had to do a bit of research but it appears the winery is based in Maharashtra at an elevation of 700 to 800 meters at latitude 19 north.
