2020 Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah! Innervisions Red - USA, California (10/17/2022)
I rarely pop and pour a Hardy Wallace wine. Decanting is always preferable. Tonight I didn’t have the time, so it was pour the first glass immediately after opening. I expected a good long wait for it to open up. I was wrong. It was as bright as a clear fall day, with the trees in full colored splendor. The fruit smelled sweet as a walk on a farm, the berries fully ripe on the bushes, drawing the bees to the sugar bursting from the skins. There’s a subtle smoke, a distant chimney, the aroma carried on the cool breeze. A warm bowl of soup is waiting in the kitchen.

I had a couple of D&R wines, never an Extradimensonal. Same grape sources? What is cepage on this?

Some of the vineyard sources Hardy is using now are the same (e.g., Evangelho, Shake Ridge), but there are a few new ones IIRC.

This wine is a pretty bizarre blend: 75% Primitivo, 10% Grenache, 10% Chenin Blanc, 3% Carignan and 2% Barbera.

FWIW, because my notes on the WineCo wines tend to the psychological, I do think that Hardy's turn towards more blending has resulted in better wines than even his best D&R Mourevedre bottlings. He started doing some interesting blending (sometimes out of necessity) towards the end of D&R, but has really leaned into it with the new label.
