Nice Riesling from Austria.

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Mon Oct 17, 2022 12:40 pm

Today a recent 2013 buy from Austria. On reflection, I wondered if the wine was maybe past its prime but anyhow here goes.

2013 Gritsch Riesling Federspiel Bruck, Wachau.

SC, 12.5% alc, $27 Cda, nice looking presentation.
Deepish lemon in color, huge aromatics as I opened..peach, floral, minerality as I expected. No gasolene.
Sure took some time to open up in the glass, close to an hour I`d say. Initially short finish and lacks intensity but big improvement as i noted. Honey, yellow apple, peach and apricot. Very satisfied after initial worry, think drink up if you have any.

Sure held up well overnight, nice citrus finish and lingers.

2013 was an excellent vintage, so I am not too surprised the wine held up well.
