2016 Chartogne-Taillet Champagne Extra Brut Les Couarres - France, Champagne (10/16/2022)
Popcorn and a movie always calls for Champagne, as the butter and salt plays off the acids and effervescence. Decided to try out first bottle of this cuvée from Chartogne-Taillet, and it did not disappoint. Light strawberry notes from the Pinot, alongside lemon and green apple from the Chardonnay, this showed full body and excellent freshness. It held its own against the buttery/salty popcorn, and on its own the second night it shined even brighter, with the lemon notes leading the way. Energizing Champagne.
