by TomHill » Mon Oct 10, 2022 12:56 pm

Tried these three new wines over the last week:
1. HeidiSchrock & Sohnne More Is More WW (13%; Trocken; 100% Welschriesling; LN 4806/22; SkurnikWines/NY) Weingut Schrock/Rust 2021: Pale yellow color; strong floral/carnations some chalky/mineral/perfumed talc bit R-like fairly fragrant nose; lightly tart/tangy fairly floral/carnations/perfumed talc some chalky/mineral/earthy slight tangy/metallic flavor; med.long fairly floral/carnations/earthy/mineral finish; not the high-toned character of a R nor the perfume of a GV; a pleasant enough white but just that; not particularly thrilling. $20.00/ltr (KK)

2. Heidi Schrock Amphore Amore Neusiedlersee-Huggeland Andersals alle Anderson Weinland (13%; www.Heidi-Schroeck.com; 100% Auxerrois left on the skins in Amphora for just over a year; SkurnikWines/NY) Weingut Schrock/Rust 2020: Burnished bronze/deep amber fairly cloudy color; fairly strong phenolic/rather resiny/VM/skin-contact somewhat floral/carnations/gardenias fairly earthy/loamy interesting/complex nose; quite tart/tangy somewhat bitter/tannic fairly strong phenolic/VM/quite resiny some floral/gardenias/carnations some earthy/loamy/rustic interesting flavor w/ modest bit bitter tannins; very long rather tart/tangy some VM/phenolic/rather resiny some floral/gardenias some earthy/loamy/rough/rustic complex finish w/ modest rough tannins; speaks loudly ofVM but a nice balance of VM & fruit; a rather interesting VM that needs food. $34.50 (KK)

More eekyblather from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. I like the HeidiSchrock wines across the board. Always interesting & well-made. Her Furmint, for which she has been instrumental in returning to prominence in Austria, is one of the best dry Furmints around. I was surprised to see Teroldego in the Rose blend. Didn't know there was any planting of Teroldego in Austria. And, of course, her dessert wines are some of the best made in Austria.
