WTN: Elizabeth Borden took an axe…

by David M. Bueker » Fri Sep 02, 2022 7:31 pm

2019 Enfield Wine Co. Cabernet Franc XB03/Cuveé Lizzie Waterhorse Ridge Vineyard - USA, California, Sonoma County, Fort Ross - Seaview (9/2/2022)
I opened a bottle immediately after this arrived, and it was unformed. A year later the pieces have come together, with dominant red fruit supplemented by warm tobacco and chalky, firm tannins. It’s still rather youthfully primary (shocking, I know), but there’s a picture emerging. I only have one left, so will leave it alone for a few years, to let the tannins mellow.

Love to meet our wines when they're children, but it's sure painful when it turns out we killed a baby.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

This is part of John’s “experimental series” so it’s hard for anyone (even him) to know how to handle them.
