WTN: The First Côtes is the Deepest

by David M. Bueker » Fri Aug 26, 2022 7:44 pm

1995 Edmunds St. John Les Côtes Sauvages - USA, California (8/26/2022)
Library sale bottle - given 90 minutes of air after opening.

It’s a warm fall day, there’s still some berries in the field, but the leaves are turning red and curling at the edges. Aromas of leather, hay and old timbers come from a nearby barn, carried on a soft breeze that cuts the heat of the early afternoon sun. It’s a comforting memory of summer, but the cooler days are in sight. Smoke comes from the farmhouse chimney, but the far away aromas are nearly imaginary.

I think that is correct. But it’s a lovely fade.
