Halcon Elevacion 2018

by Stephen R » Mon Aug 15, 2022 10:28 pm

This 2018 Elevacion from Halcon exuded class and complexity for three days. It never lost anything from cork pop to last sip. Inky purple and opaque with aromas of plum, mint, tar, roasted meat, herbs, and black pepper. Full- bodied with grippy tannins that softened on day 2 and 3. Tastes of plum, lavender, and pepper that lingered for awhile letting you savor each sip. Another bottle showing how underrated Paul Gordon was!!

Welcome Stephen!

I had a bottle of the 2018 a while back and really liked it on pop and pour. The 2019s from Halcon have seemed much tighter across the board and in need of air/time.

Welcome to WLDG, Stephen. I haven't had the Elevacion, but did nab six of the '18 Mourvedres before they all disappeared.

I have mostly ‘19s in the cellar. But I heard the ‘18s were approachable so I decided to open it and I am sure glad I did!
