TN: Violet Mints.... as a descriptor.....

by Paulo in Philly » Mon Feb 26, 2007 8:35 pm

I had a big "a-ha!!" moment sipping this 2004 Teroldego Rotaliano DOC by Cantina Rotaliana..... The deep red almost slightly purple color was gorgeous, with lots of ripe raspberry pie on the nose. Finally, a new descriptor for me popped up today (day two of enjoying the wine): violet mints!!! A beautiful wine for an easy $15..... 12.5 % alcohol..... how delicious!!!

Remember these?

Paulo, yes, I remember these. Can you still find them??
I've used violet pastilles as a descriptor before (you know, the French kind, in small tins with the anise seed inside). The ones you show are stronger flavoured than the French (or Italian) kind, like an obvious perfume.
