2019 Georg Mosbacher Forster Musenhang Riesling trocken - Germany, Pfalz (7/14/2022)
Took me a couple of days to figure out this wine. Resolutely dry, it was inscrutable in its aromatic and flavor elements until day two. Prior to that it was sort of a densely packed ball in a hard shell. Perhaps headed into a shut down phase and needed lots of air?

Anyway, a glass this evening finally revealed what was going on, and I think they switched grapes and didn’t tell anyone. This smells and tastes like dry Scheurebe. It’s all grapefruit and sage, with a dash of lemon zest that is sprinkled on the finish. There’s even a hint of underripe mango. Scheu-vay!

I really like this wine, but I am not sure it will cozy up to the Scheurebe averse drinkers.
