2019 Black Sheep Finds Syrah Holus Bolus "Franc de Pied" - USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills (7/8/2022)
Holy Boly! This a quite the blend of new world fruit and old world savory. What stands out is the depth, the sappiness of expression. Black fruit, red meat, black olive, red gravel, it’s all there, in a supple, yet focused package. I honestly had a hard time putting down the glass. Seriously impressive blend of new world environment and old world sensibility.

Sounds like this would hit my sweet spot in a big way.

I think it might. I have had three Syrahs from my experimental mixed case so far. All have been very fine. The Santa Rita Hills bottling was a bit on the richer side, but still very pure and fun to drink.

The Bedrock guys did a podcast with Amy and Peter, the owners & winemakers at Joy Fantastic/Holus Bolus, and that’s what turned me onto the wines. So glad I listened.
