2019 Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Old Vines Haynes Vineyard - USA, California, Napa Valley, Coombsville (7/5/2022)
Normally I open a bottle of each new Enfield wine within a few weeks after they arrive. Somehow I missed this one. Remedied that oversight tonight, and glad to have opened it. It’s a zen Chardonnay, finding a middle way between the ultra bracing and the spicy oaky. Nothing is overdone, and the teeter-totter balance between bright, racy freshness and lightly spicy, toasty elevage is on point, Each sip had me thinking about brightness, richness and depth of flavor. Well judged and compelling.
