WTN: the Dorks do bubbles

Served blind, one at a time:

2008 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Coeur de Cuvée Champagne Blend
WT's. 80% chardonnay. Taut with all the fruit hiding behind the acidity. HOLD.

NV Savart Champagne Premier Cru l'Ouverture Pinot Noir
Disgorged 3/21. Very precise and focussed, lots of potential but needs more time.

NV René Collard Champagne Cuvée Ultime Ultra Brut Pinot Meunier
WT's. Though NV, presumed to have been made in 1995. Dark ginger ale color. Old old, musty nose, burnt apple butter, mushroom, toasted brioche. Too funky for some present but those of us who get old wines loved it.

2014 Ferrari Brut Perlé Rosé Riserva Trento Rosé Blend
Mine. Surprising pale burnished orange color. Yeasty, floral, Earl Gray tea, very concentrated, unique. Loved this.

2007 Gardet Champagne Cuvée Charles Gardet Prestige Champagne Blend
A-M's. Waxy, citrus, hazelnut, very French, chardonnay-intensive. Very good.

2016 Ulysse Collin Champagne Extra Brut Blanc de Noirs Les Maillons Pinot Noir
WT's. Pale yellowish pink color. Coconut ginger, nutmeg and apricot: fascinating, exceptional.

Interesting selection. The Collin has become the latest “Prada” Champagne. Price has gone through the roof.

Champagne prices have gone crazy period. But I did love it.
