He was. I was a lucky person to have been a 'friend' with him on Facebook for the past couple years where he talked about almost anything but wine; some politics but mostly art; his admiration for his 100 year old mother who lived with him which morphed into concern and grief over her eventual loss about a year ago, ruminations over amazing times in a small Paris apartment with Susan, his muse and partner, and the most beautiful woman he ever knew.

And his wines really are/were fantastic.
