Shared with neighbors over the fence last night:
2012 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon The Classic Walla Walla Valley
This wine is coming into its own now. Concentrated dark berry fruit with tobacco, spice, espresso and a hint of Rocks funk. A great showing for one of the best and more unique cabernets produced in Washington these days. PnP's very well but there's plenty of runway ahead. Drink or hold.
Later, Bob and I came in for salad and a small hunk of roast lamb:
2012 Reynvaan Family Vineyards Syrah Foothills Reserve Walla Walla Valley
Decanted one hour. Strong green olive continues to dominate this release with gamey black cherry and black currant notes underneath; this wine was totally feral when it was younger and I'm still not sure it's housebroken, but it's certainly showing a bit more fruit. Needs serious meat--think roast lamb with anchovy tapenade.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
