Linda brought this dessert wine to our Pig+Fig tasting ystrday:
1. HarvestMoon Zin LateHrvst Estate/RRV (15.0%; SaH: 30.5Brix; RS: 9.1 g/l; www.HarvestMoonWnry.com) RandyPitts/SantaRosa 2005: Very dark color w/ some bricking; very strong boysenberry/very ripe/chocolaty bit alcoholic some complex rather intense Zin fruit nose; bit soft quite sweet intense blackberry/boysenberry/ripe Zin/chocolaty slight alcoholic/fumey light pencilly/oak bit complex flavor w/ light ripe tannins; very long/lingering fairly sweet intense blackberry/boysenberry/very ripe/chocolaty bit alcoholic finish w/ light tannins; still loads of ripe Zin fruit but not showing much signs of its age; no raisened/pruney character whatsoever, just loads of ripe fruit; reminds some of the Ridge Essence Zins but not quite as sweet; probably not going to get a whole lot better & just continue to drop fruit.

1. This was a wnry I'd never heard of before. Linda & Ralph picked it up when they stopped at the wnry to taste some yrs ago. RandyPitts returned to his Dad's property in 2000 to take over farming responsibility from his Dad who planted the vnyd in 1976. Usually when these LH wines start to age, they start to show a raisened/pruney character. This wine showed none of that. It went great w/ Sara's P+F chocolate mousse tort; a great match.
