Had these three over the last few days:

2. Bedrock PaganiRanch Heritage SonomaVlly RW (15.0%; plntd in 1880's in Kenwood; Farmed: DinoAmantite) 2011: Very dark/near black color w/ light bricking; very strong blackberry/ripe/licorice/Zin bit rustic/sauvage quite dusty/OV bit AlicanteBouschet/rustic/earthy light toasty/oak fairly complex nose; lightly tart/tangy bit drying/astringent/tannic strong blackberry/Zin/licorice/AB/earthy/rustic rather dusaty/OV bit cedary/pencilly/oldZin bit metallic/drying out coarse some complex flavor w/ ample rough/drying tannins; very long/lingering some cedary/pencilly/oldZin strong blackberry/Zin/AB/rustic/earthy some toasty/oak bit complex finish w/ ample astringent tannins; still has lots of classic Pagani fruit but showing its age on the palate; a wine that will not outlive its tannins & only going to dry out more & drop fruit.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was a bit surprised the degree of aging these 10 yr old Zins were showing. They both had plenty of fruit remaining, but were showing signs of their age on the palate and going nowhere.

2. SteveCostigan gifted me a box of dessert wines the other day as he draws down his inventory. He apparently bought too many wines over the yrs. Never heer'd of anyone who's ever had that problem before!! So this was the first from that stash. Thanks, Steve.
This wine clearly had some botrytis present, but not enough to overwhelm the spicy GWT varietal character. Great balance of ripe GWT fruit & botrytis.
