- 2020 Château Thivin Côte de Brouilly Le Clos Bertrand - France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Côte de Brouilly (5/20/2022)
Normally when I have a Thivin wine I am struck by the immediate pleasure, a juiciness and then some hidden structure that can reward the patient. This wine turns that a bit on its head. The structure is quite obvious. There’s some of the juicy quality, but it’s not just going to jump up and slobber on your face. It’s reserved. It requires study. It’s a more serious expression. I should have bought six, as it’s likely to reward some time in the cellar.
