WTN: Doo Dah, Doo Dah

by David M. Bueker » Thu May 19, 2022 7:13 pm

  • 2017 Schloss Gobelsburg Riesling 1ÖTW Ried Heiligenstein - Austria, Niederösterreich, Kamptal (5/19/2022)
Every once in a while I have a wine that stops me in my tracks from the very first sip. This is one of those wines.

It was as if a fruit gun had gone off. Yellow, orange and green fruit aromas just exploded from the glass. The palate was equally effusive. It settled down a bit after an hour or so, but still displayed significant power. The nuance and detail was reserved for the finish, boding well for future complexity.

Dry, fruity and exuberant for now, I may have issues keeping my hands off the rest of my bottles.

Those moments of explosive pleasure are what we live for with this passion. Those are also the ones that stick deepest in my memory.

My favourite vineyard in Austria, and one of my favourite producers too. Good luck saving some for later.

took me several days to post that; tried it the day your post appeared, but I have recurring computer ambivalence about this site, I guess; the first three attempts I got error messages.

Sounds great, never had this producer.

I presume you mean "same bottling" and if so it looks like it.

Oops, autocorrect got me and I didn’t catch it! Yes, “same” bottling. Thanks!
