- 1997 Ravenswood Zinfandel Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (5/5/2022)
From the series of Ravenswood library sales, I admit that I don’t know which of the three sales this came from. Never mind that it’s a pretty astounding showing for a 25 year old regional Zinfandel. It’s still full of cherry fruit, veering towards Kirsch, but not hot in any way, just elevated aromatics, and a liquorous feel on the palate that isn’t hot, but more penetrating. It’s not the most complex wine, but it’s a perfect companion to a relaxed mid-week evening. Drink soon and enjoy if you were lucky enough to get one.
