- 2008 Arcadian Syrah Hommage à Max - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley (4/28/2022)
From a recent library sale by Joe Davis, this was notably more primary than the 2006 I had two days prior, despite the 2006 not being in any way old/mature. This was more black fruited, with the developing elements being more in the background. Overall with the two vintages it was amazing how slowly and elegantly these Syrahs are developing.

Aired but not decanted. This was spot on from my first sip about 60 minutes after it was opened. Leather, earth, spice and a solid underpinning of dark fruit, it was an absolute joy to drink. Subtle tannins kept things well framed, and stood up to moderately rich food. Really happy to have had a chance to pick some of these up from Joe Davis.
