WTN: 2004 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett Halbtrocken

It's been a long, strange trip the last few weeks. I went to the UK, Italy and France on business. Seemed like it would be fun except that I got very sick, and for several days could not smell or taste anything. So much for eating and drinking in Europe.

The senses are finally getting back to normal. Last night I ran a wine tasting for charity. The wines did not show that well in general, but one confirmed that my senses are back.

The Selbach was stony with lots of fresh apples and apple blossom notes, just barely off-dry, with a totally dry finish. Subtle yet penetrating, the acids were brisk, and the overall mouthfeel was very refreshing. Delicious stuff, and I wish I had more than 5 bottles left, as I think this will age very well.
