WTN: Drouhin that Rag

by David M. Bueker » Wed Apr 13, 2022 7:04 pm

  • 2005 Joseph Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny (4/13/2022)
The structure may be the permanent signature of 2005 Burgundies. Getting close to seventeen years since the vintage and there are still aggressive tannins. The aromatics are developing, and hints of the holy grail sous bois are emerging, but overall it remains youthful, with significant red fruit, and significant tannins. Will it ever evolve into a gentle, aromatic Burgundy? I don’t think so. Will it always reflect the vintage? Yes, and that’s OK.

So it's something of a shambling Musigny?

I haven't had the '05 Drouhin Chambolle, but I'm more sanguine over '05 Burgs than you. Structured , yes, but ones I've tried (from producers I like) have had balance. I'm just drinking Bourgogne AC. :)

I am sure you know what prompted me to buy Drouhin Chambolle and Chambolle 1er in 2005.
