2012 MacPhail Pinot Noir Oregon
Surprisingly rich and primary for 9 yrs out, but on the fat side with ripe iodine notes in the dark cherry fruit. Showing very well but a lot more like California than Oregon.

I've never heard of the producer, but the 2012 vintage was a very warm, rich vintage...

They're actually a California winery. I was surprised to see them working with Oregon grapes (though several others do). And yeah, I'm aware of the kind of vintage '12 is, but this one was riper than any others I've had--iodine in Oregon is pretty unheard of.
