WTN: Wylie or Won’t He

Ready? Of course not. ESJ Syrahs are almost never “ready.” It is drinking well, and showing some of the roasted meat, olive and gravel road character of Syrah. It hasn’t reached campfire, bacon and tar yet, but there’s plenty of depth and sufficient structure to wait for that development. I would probably give it another 2-3 years before checking in again.

Good to know, thanks!

Somehow it looks like I missed this one. This was last year (and after a gap?). I have 2005 etc.

The Wylie property changed hands after 2010, and the mew owner was so difficult to deal with that the relationship was discontinued. The next Syrah after Wylie-Fenaughty was a combination that included fruit from Fenaughty and Barsotti that was designated "North Canyon Road Syrah," since both properties were situated along that road.
