by TomHill » Fri Apr 08, 2022 4:16 pm

Had these four wines w/ DinDin over the last two days:
1. Arnot-Roberts OldVine WW HeinsteinVnyd/SonomaVlly (13%; 7 brls; Plntd: 1954; Sylvaner/Riesling/Green Hungarian/ Gewurtztraminer) Healdsburg 2016: Med.gold color; quite fragrant/perfumed floral/gardenias/R/Muscatty light chalky/mineral beautiful aromatic nose; quite tart/tangy somewhat rich bit steely/metallic very floral/perfumed/R/muscatty light chalky/mineral/OV bit delicate/restrained lovely flavor; very long slight steely/mineral/OV some floral/R/muscatty some complex bit mineral finish; a rather restrained/lithe white but not at all lean/eviscerated like you often get from A-R; a lovely white.

3. Idlewild Flora&Fauna NorthCoast WW (11.9%; 40% Arneis/30% Muscat Canelli/10% Cortese/10% Erbaluce/10% Favorita; FoxHill & LostHills vnyds) Geyserville 2021: Med.light gold color; rather aromatic floral/herbal/carnations lightly spicy slight stony very attractive nose; quite tart/tangy bit lean/wirey lightly floral/carnations some herbal/spicy slight metallic/steely/bit earthy rather attractive flavor; very long rather tart/tangy/wirey lightly floral/herbal/carnations bit metallic/stony finish; plenty of flavor for an 11.9% wine; reminds a lot of a Friuli Friulano/Ribolla blend; quite a nice white at a very fair price. $25.00

4. Forlorn-Hope Trousseau RorickHeritageVnyd/CalaverasCnty/SierraFoothills (12.87%) Murphys 2020: Very light garnet/almost rose color; some earthy/loamy/mushroomy somewhat fragrant cherry/strawberry/Trous fairly spicy bit exotic interesting nose; fairly tart/tangy bit wirey/crunchy fairly earthy/loamy somewhat rustic some cherry/strawberry bit alpine/floral some spicy quite interesting/exotic flavor w/ light graceful tannins; very long rather earthy/loamy/rustic some cherry/strawberry/Trouss/alpine floral interesting finish w/ light gentle tannins; a rather light/rustic expression of Trousseau that suggest the alpine character of the Jura; quite drinkable vin de soif. $30.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Arnot-Roberts: This was a wine I had low expectations for because the A-R are often pretty lean & eviscerated. This one was not & had evolved into a beautiful perfumed mature white.
The vnyd is about a mile from the Sonoma Plaza to the East. It is part of the original AgostonHaraszthy property dating back to the early 1850's and adjacent to the Compagni-Portis vnyd that Bedrock & Carlisle use.
