I've been starting to assess maturity on some of my 95 and 96 Bordeaux and this Margaux 5th growth was up for testing.

Still fairly dark with lots of interesting dark cherry and ripe plum aromas, smooth on palate and while ready now, there is no rush Some interesting licorice/anise notes in the medium to long finish. Time to start in on this one.

I seem to have accumulated 48 different Bordeaux in this vintage and am only starting to assay them, so the vintage should be a frequent appearance in my tasting notes. Mostly 3 or 6 bb lots but I see that for some reason I lashed out on a full case of 95 Magdelaine so I guess I'd best try that one soon.

Don't you just love looking back at long-ago purchases and going, "why the heck did I do that?" Happens too often here at Chez J!
