Not much time for cooking, grilled some Hmart marinated chicken, served with assorted banchan, rice, and the 2010 Clos de la Roilette (Coudert) “Cuvee Tardive” Fleurie
Weird showing, nothing like another recent bottle. All structure (mostly acid, some tannin), very little fruit, no tertiary notes. Just sits there. C+ No sense of TCA, but possible under my threshold.
Saturday oysters, red perch with dill butter,spinach/ricotta cuscinetti in lemon butter, sauteed cabbage/endive, and broccoli braised with anchovy.
2018 Goodfellow Whistling Ridge Chardonnay
Tangy, young, pear with lemon pie and a light almondy note, Structure for aging but quite enjoyable now. B+/A-
Some struggles with Ooni Sunday, but eventually a couple of pizzas (mozz/artichoke and pepperoni). 2017 Querciabella Chianti Classico was quite nice, red and black cherry with some leather and cigar smoke, light tannins, good but not sharp acids. B/B+
Curry mee/curry laksa (chicken soup with rice noodles,
2015 Donnhoff Oberhauser Leistenberg Kabinett
I liked this much better than bottle a couple years ago.Sweet pear and tropical fruit, slatey mineral finish, moderate acids, noticeable sweetness but not pretending to be a Spatlese. Good length, persistent yet elegant, B+
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
