2002 Terra Rouge, Sierra Foothills, Roussanne ($22 U.S.). Alcohol level: 14.5%.

It gives you gold in the eye. Also provides very ripe pears, some apricots, and wild flower tea on the nose and upfront. As it courses through the middle you find more fruit, a taste of honey, some minerality, and a trace of oak. It finishes long and wonderfully.

I like this wine very much as well. There are a number of foothill wineries putting out roussanne these days, but I don't think anyone does it better than Bill Easton.
