WTN: 2004 Diggers Bluff Stray Dog Grenache Shiraz Mataro, Barossa

by Mark Wickman » Fri Feb 23, 2007 7:50 pm

Diggers Bluff is a small winery run by Robert O'Callaghans (Rockford) two sons Travis and Tim.

A bright red color with a lightly perfumed nose of rasberry and sour cherry. Light to medium weight with dusty, slightly chalky tannins, crisp acidity and finishing with hints of rasberry, clove and a touch of menthol. A pleasant, easy drinking wine.

Sounds like the style I'm looking for -- more restrained. I'll be in the Barossa in about four weeks. I'm looking forward to the visit.
