- 2018 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Vosne-Romanée - France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée (1/11/2022)
Hudelot-Noellat rarely disappoints, but I have to say I don’t love this wine. I thought I was going to, as on first pour there was a purity that promised good things. Then, over the next couple of hours those good things never really showed up. Given the reputation of 2018 I expected to have to parse through some fat, some excess fleshiness in the wine. Instead it presented emptiness. A lack of depth on the palate and merely faint aromatic impressions. My food tasted just fine, so it wasn’t me. The wine just fell flat. I left 1/2 of the bottle to check in tomorrow. Hopefully it’s just closing down and grumpy.
