WTN: Clos to Perfection

1990 Clos-Vougeot, Rene Engel

The orange-brick color betrays its age. The aromas and flavors are extremely complex and elegant and illustrate the heights that pinot noir can reach. Grace, elegance, and complexity are the keys in this near perfect example of a mature Burgundy grand cru. Triple Curly.

I loved Rene Engel's wines. The Vosne Romanee was a house wine for ages. Sadly, I'm down to my last bottles.

Triple curly--doesn't get any better than that. A bottle to envy!

The highest accolade is "Triple Curly with an extra Woo! Woo! Woo!" This doesn't quite qualify for that. But it's close.
