Absolutely Fabulous cocktails

by Paul Winalski » Tue Dec 21, 2021 1:36 pm

I've been binge-watching a BBC TV sitcom from the 1990s called Absolutely Fabulous. It's a send-up of the fashion world featuring a failed fashion designer (Edina) and fashion model (Patsy) who are still trying to live their 1960s fast living lifestyle of booze and drugs.

There are a couple of cocktails that Edina and Patsy frequently indulge in. The first is Bolly and Stolly, a mixture of Bollinger Champagne and Stolichnaya vodka. In later series they switched over to Veuve and Bourb--Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label and bourbon.* Anyone out there willing to confess to having tried either of these?

* Why would anyone want to do that to bourbon?? I like La Grande Dame, but I have to agree with a friend's summary review of Yellow Label: "I wouldn't wash my dog with it."

Not me! Have never even heard of doing that.

Did have my first pineau de charentes cocktail last night, but that's another topic.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Season 5 of AbFab (the last one, alas) introduced a third cocktail. The three Edina and Patsy tipples are:

Bolli and Stoli (Bollinger Champagne and Stolichnaya vodka)

Bourb and Veuve (bourbon and Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne)

Dom and Bom (Dom Perignon Champagne and Bombay Sapphire gin)
