WTN: Idle hands do the wild work

by David M. Bueker » Wed Dec 15, 2021 8:21 pm

  • 2020 Idlewild Flora & Fauna Red - USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County (12/15/2021)
Notably brighter and more invigorating than any prior vintage, this is all about fresh red fruit and solid acid structure. There’s some floral influence on the finish, and a splash of tannin right at the end. Lighter bodied and so more refreshing than prior vintages, it still carries the food friendly torch of its predecessors. One of these days I will just buckle down and buy a full case on release, as this is the wine I reach for any time I have pasta or pizza. It’s just too easy a choice.

Opened another bottle tonight, and it has knit together into a much more cohesive whole. Still full of freshness, the foundation is fuller, providing better balance. Still the best damn pizza wine I have ever had.

I just joined their wine club.

Woo hoo!

I hope you love the wines. I sure do. Maybe not every single one of them, but a lot!
