WTN: Bedrock Cuvee Karatas '20....(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Dec 13, 2021 12:18 pm

Dipping down into my recent Bedrock arrivials, I tried last night:
1. Bedrock Cuvee Karatas Semillon MonteRossoVnyd/SonomaCnty (14.1%; Semillon plntd in 1886 + SauvBlanc from Bedrock/Judge/Uboldi vnyds) 2020: Med.light yellow color; strong waxy/figgy/classic Semillon/fig newton rather stony/chalky/bit minerally light earthy some complex nose; quite tart/tangy/bit steely very strong Semillon/ripe figs/waxy rather rich/structured/bit austere some earthy/stony/chalky/mineral very light pencilly/oak complex flavor; very long/lingering very strong Semillon/waxy/figgy rather stony/mineral finish; a very classic Semillon very structured & should go out at least 10 yrs. $39.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This MonteRosso Semillon is one of the oldest Semillon plantings in the World. This wine reminded me some of the old LouisMartini MonteRosso Semillons but w/ more structure & richness. I would dearly love to see Bedrock make a version of this Semillon where they hit it w/ a ton of Stockinger new oak so it resembles some of the HunterVlly Semillons which evolve into a very Sauternes-like wine.

Thanks for the early look Tom.

I ordered some, but due to the holiday shipping window I deferred my delivery until next March.
