• 2011 Koehler-Ruprecht Kallstadter Saumagen Riesling Auslese trocken - Germany, Pfalz (11/12/2021)
  At the elemental level there is a kinship across Rieslings from different countries, crafted by different means, with different goals. Over time they converge, revealing the base structure, aromas and flavors that are the core of Riesling. As I was drinking this Koehler Ruprecht I had vivid memories of 1990 Trimbach CFE and a 1992 Dönnhoff Hermannshohle shared with friends many years ago. The core of the wines was the same. It was essence of Riesling. Magic.

Nice work. Delicious stuff but I rarely see these wines. I have one bottle left of the 2009 Auslese Trocken R. Have been debating when to open because I'm unlikely to buy more!

I have had much lately, as it was really hard to get the wines for a while.

I will say that I think this vintage is pretty much fully mature. I rarely say that for 10 year old Riesling.
