1994 Chateau Ste. Michelle Cabernet Sauvignon Horse Heaven Vineyard Columbia Valley
Ullage into the neck, pristeen cork. Drinks like a 10 year old, but with a layers of complex, leathery resonance. There's a touch of pyrazine in there that wouldn't be in a California '94, but no way was this underripe. Superb! Presumably made by Charlie Hoppes (Fidelitas) who began his career at Ste. Michelle.

Back when that wine was a stupendous value play. I used to order it and/or the Cold Creek Vineyard (I think that was the name) off restaurant wine lists for business dinners. Cheap and delicious.

And a mere $20 on Winebid a few weeks ago. It was REALLY good, and I took it to a little dinner party hosted by a guy who used to work for the winery (and still reveres it, the retiree puchasing benefits are unreal). So, much appreciated by all.
