  One bottle in the cellar, and I decided tonight was the night. Honestly I was underwhelmed. Initially still rather grapey, it got more interesting at about the ninety minute mark, but never displayed a depth of flavor to account for the inflated reputation (and price). It certainly had the expected roasted, rare meat and tapenade notes, but never an extra gear. Maybe the expectations were ahead of the wine, but I wouldn’t ever spend more than $40 for a bottle like this.

That has also been my experience with the 2005. I have one bottle left and am wondering when (if ever) it will start singing.

Another of those price escalations that never made sense to me.

There are people who still think it’s underpriced. I think they are insane.

I may well sell off my remaining bottles.

Recent reviews on the '10, which I own, have been good. Probably not $275 good, though.

I enjoyed the '07, but it was several years ago. Opened the '06 this summer, lovely. It was $21. I think I only have a few Gonon left, once price went over $40 for regular I dropped out. But I've been happy with all that I did buy.
